Common House Painting Challenges and How We Fix Them

Challenge 1

Mould on Interior Walls

Reason

Moisture trapped in the wall and poor ventilation let mould grow, leaving dark stains that keep coming back.

Solution

We clean the affected area and sand it back, seal it with a stain-blocking sealer to stop the mould returning, then apply 2 coats of premium low-sheen washable paint.

Challenge 2

Water-Damaged Ceiling Stains

Reason

Roof or plumbing leaks let water soak into the ceiling, leaving yellow-brown stains and weakening the plasterboard.

Solution

We check the surface with a spirit level. If it’s uneven or damaged, we cut out the affected section and install new plasterboard. Then we apply a primer sealer and finish with 2 coats of mould-resistant ceiling paint.

Challenge 3

Peeling Paint on Exterior Weatherboards

Reason

Sun, rain and moisture break down the old paint, so it flakes and peels off the weatherboards. In some places the timber underneath starts to rot.

Solution

We scrape off all the loose paint and sand the surface back with a machine. Where the timber has rotted, we repair it with a 2-pack filler and sand it smooth. Then we apply a sealer primer and finish with 2 coats of premium Solashield paint.
